T.G.I.T.

25 Mar

Thank Goodness It’s Friday! I’m gonna let you in on a secret that isn’t really so secret. When UK sensation Bloc Party release their records, they put out a second one that is a compilation of remixes of various artists recreating the album with electronic flair. This is of course with the exception of A Weekend In The City, which wasn’t remixed. That being said, Silent Alart and Intimacy were remixed from start to finish and done very well.

Below are a bunch of songs for your listening pleasure. The first two are from Intimacy Remixed and the third is from Silent Alarm Remixed. I highly suggest you go and find them online because they really are electric masterpieces from start to finish, with a few exceptions, as every remix album has.

This is my Thursday by the way, so party twice as hard for me,

Grant.

Minor malfunctions on The Grid.

I don’t understand why so many people bashed TRON: Legacy when it was released. I seriously think that movie snobs and critics are forgetting what a film is supposed to do; entertain us. A movie like TRON: Legacy is more or less meant do just that. It didn’t use actors to jerk tears from the audience, or try to intrigue the audience with a mind boggling twist ending. It was meant to be a visual marvel and make you forget the world you live in and be transported to The Grid. In my honest opinion, they succeeded and hit my expectations, which were quite high.

Now, this is a bit of a different story. Disney is set to release TRON: Legacy R3C0NF1GUR3D, which is a compilation of remixes of tracks from the original soundtrack, on April 5th. Some heavy hitters and old schooler’s are featured on it, and the diversity of age shows. The Glitch Mob’s Remix of Derezzed is amazing to say the least, and I can’t get enough of Avicii’s take on it as well. Long story short, it leaked the other day and I, along with the rest of the world, have mixed feelings about it. I think that the majority of the songs are very good, but there are unfortunately a few that the boys in helmets must be shaking their heads at.

I guess you can’t win every battle (or disc war in this case),

Grant.

Ps. Wow, that was a terrible joke…

Why, hello Friday.

11 Feb

Another week gone by and yet another Friday is upon us. Another opportunity to get slammered and make a fool of ourselves. Another chance to cause madness and mischief and blame it on the contents of our beverages. Another chance to be a part of photos that will float to the surface of the internet in no time so the world laugh at certain individuals’ inability to contain large quantities of a certain liquid elixir.

I will not be partaking in these type of events described in run-on sentences tonight. If you happen to be one of those individuals, here are a few tracks to keep you going throughout the course of the evening. I will leave you with two simple pieces of advice: Try to stay out of the camera’s way and drink plenty of water. You’ll be thanking yourself tomorrow morning.

Keep it minty,

Grant.
